This festive season, we’re curating traders who would like to partner with Between the Bridges and Southbank Centre to curate the South Bank Centre’s Winter Market.

This is an exciting opportunity to hire a chalet and transform it into your very own shop in one of London’s busiest and most iconic Christmas destinations.

We are looking for seven outstanding small businesses to complement the seven delicious food traders already confirmed for this much-loved market.

All businesses must sell handmade or ethically sourced products. Please read through the information below carefully to make sure this opportunity is right for your business.

Event Details

  • Dates: 2 November – 5 January
    Closed 25 December, half day on 31 December and closed 1 January

  • Trading hours: Monday – Saturday, 10am – 10pm; Sunday, 11am – 10pm

  • 2024 revenue range: £55,000 – £151,000 gross

  • 2025 revenue range: £38,000 – £109,000 gross

  • 2024 average revenue: £81,000 gross

  • 2025 average revenue: £80,000 gross

  • Commission: 26% of net sales (after VAT), applied after the first £20,000

    • 25% to Peppermint / Southbank Centre

    • 1% to SoLo Craft Fair

  • Upfront fee: £5,000 + VAT, included within the commission. Payment plans are available upon request.

  • Estimated utility recharges: £300 + VAT per week (TBC; includes chalet, waste, cleaning and security)

  • Estimated energy cost: £40 per week

  • Lighting: External festoon lighting is provided. Internal lighting must be provided by the retailer.

  • Card fees: 1.5% of gross sales, charged by the till provider (Square)

  • Unit dimensions: 3m frontage x 2.4m depth

  • Maximum power per unit: 1 x 13 amp

  • Restrictions: No gas or open flames permitted

  • Build dates: From 19 October

  • De-rig: From 6 January

All traders must hold valid insurance and any appropriate certificates required for their products in order to trade at the market.

We are unable to accept food vendors for this opportunity. However, if you sell food products intended for consumption at home, such as jams, chutneys or honey, you are welcome to apply.

  • Jewellery & Fashion: £70,000 – £80,000

  • Beauty Products: £50,000

  • Homeware: £75,000 – £150,000

  • Decorations: £45,000

2025 Trading Figures

  • Jewellery & Fashion: £38,000 – £92,000

  • Art: £81,000

  • Homeware: £71,000 – £109,000

  • Confectionery: £77,000

FAQs

Can I share a chalet with another trader?

Yes. However, both traders must be clearly listed on the application form. Both traders will need to have their own insurance, and an additional fee may apply if you require a separate card reader.

Can I use my own card reader?

No. As this is a commission-based opportunity, all traders are required to use the card readers provided by Peppermint. This allows commission to be accurately tracked.

Do I need to stay open for all trading hours?

Yes. These trading hours are set by Southbank Centre.

However, we are aware that retail sales can slow down later in the evening. Trading patterns will be monitored and, if sales consistently drop after a certain time, earlier closing hours for the retail chalets may be agreed.
