Blind Date with a Book - Brixton

To keep books out of landfill , SoLo Craft Fair will be treating guests to a 'Blind Date with a Book'... what on earth does this mean I hear you cry?!

Well, the concept is simple (if not a little abstract) - members of the SoLo Craft Fair team will set up camp outside their shop in Brixton with a selection of 'blind' books on display.

Blind books are books with their covers hidden under wrapping paper, with only a few written details describing what you can expect from your book date. Everyone who comes can choose a book based purely on its 'personality'. Will you be choosing a dangerous, classic or romantic date? And what's better still, it will be free to meet your date and take them home with you! (If you have any 'dates' at home that you no longer feel the spark with, feel free to bring them and swap for a new model - this is encouraged in this new line of dating but you are welcome to turn up completely unattached!)

With our 'Blind Dates with a Book' we plan to bring a bit of cheer to the community prior to the onset of what the news keeps reporting as one of the hardest winters to come. All books will be second hand so the concept is completely sustainable and doesn't cost anything to those taking part.

What's better still, one of the books will contain a £10 SoLo Craft Fair voucher to spend in the shop if you pick the lucky book!

This event will be taking place outside the new SoLo Craft Fair shop in the iconic Brixton Village, after you’ve picked up your book browse our shop which showcases the designs of 50 local makers and designers. Then grab some lunch or drinks at some of the incredible independent eateries and bars in the village.

Find us at 97 Granville Arcade, next to one of the Coldharbour Lane entrances, nextdoor to Lions Vibe record shop.

Content Planning Workshop by Trumble Creative VA

As we going into the busiest time of the year for Designer Makers, Join a small group of other like minded supportive crafts people, to brainstorm ideas and plan your content so that you can feel confident that you are still connecting with your audience and are able to enjoy a season when you often get to meet your customers in person.  We will focus on Instagram but the content can be used across various platforms and could become ideas for blog posts and newsletters.

You can work on worksheets or Trello (a template will be provided to all attendees) and we will use a mixture of brainstorming and refining your content pillars to build a plan for the month ahead.

This workshop is for you if

  • You have a product based business and want to get some structure to your social media/content

  • You have content in your head or all over the place and images on your phone but need to get it all together in one place

  • Want to get organised for the last quarter

  • Know that as we get closer to Christmas your content planning will go out the window and you will feel like you are missing opportunities

  • Use Instagram (although this can work for other platforms) and you can repurpose your content accordingly

This workshop is not for you if

  • You have a full content plan in place and you don't need any support

  • You have your content planned up to Christmas and beyond and feel confident about going into the busy time of year

  • You are happier working on your own time and not in a supportive group

The group will be kept small maximum of 6 people.

Investment £15 (Introductory offer) to book, please go here: https://events.humanitix.com/one-less-thing-to-do-content-planning-workshop

Southbank Summer Market

SoLo Craft Fair is delighted to announce they are returning to Between the Bridges for a summer of monthly markets. The first Sunday of each month, SoLo Craft Fair will be showcasing over 60 of London best makers and designers. They will be selling everything from fashion to art, jewellery to plants and more!

Between the Bridges is London's biggest beer garden, so once you've finished shopping - grab some lunch from some of the amazing food stalls and a drink from the bar.

The market is taking place under cover - so we'll be there whatever the weather.

You can find the Between the Bridges site between Jubilee Gardens and Hungerford Bridge (SE1 7PG) - Just a stone's throw from the London Eye. Entry to Between the Bridges is free, but please note food and drink are not permitted onsite. There will be a quick bag search upon entry. The market will be based under the pier structure towards the back of the site.

SoLo Craft Fair dates: Sunday 7th May, 4th June, 2nd July, 6th August, 3rd September 12pm - 5pm
